Utility audit identifies nearly $45,000 in annual utility savings for the Northwest Chicagoland International Airport at Rockford With a big and expanding operation, the Northwest Chicagoland International Airport at Rockford (RFD) wanted to make sure utility costs were under control. The airport wanted a rate utility audit, particularly because a number of separate telephone bills with differing telecom rates for various departments made telephone expenses hard to manage. Fortunately, the Airport had already asked their carrier to consolidate their telephone bills; however even their new plan provided additional savings opportunities. Energy bills and waste bills were also examined as a part of the comprehensive utility audit. The bottom line—despite the new telephone contract offered by the carrier, our telecommunications audit revealed that an additional $6,000 in annual savings was available on telecom expenses alone. The comprehensive utility audit resulted in almost $45,000 per year in utility rate savings, with $35,000 per year in electricity, $1,800 in gas, $900 in waste and the aforementioned $6,000 in telecommunications. The Airport is very pleased with its savings and has invited MAP to speak to the area’s new purchasing cooperative (City of Rockford, Rockford Park District, and others) about utility savings opportunities. Amy Ott, Deputy Director of Administration and Finance, says “The Greater Rockford Airport Authority is very pleased with the outcome of our utility audit. Like any good business, we are always looking for ways to reduce our operating costs.” About the Rockford Airport:
